Many thanks for joining us to celebrate the children’s efforts and successes, and to the teachers for all their work in the classrooms. It was great to see extended families and neighbours getting into the spirit of fun for the evening. We have learned much from the evening to improve upon this venture another time. If you were successful in bidding for items in either the loud or silent auctions you are welcome to collect these through the office. We would still like to use the winning pieces (loud auction) for the Inner City Schools Exhibition in September. Another huge thank-you to our key sponsors: · Hills Flooring · Bayleys Real Estate The following companies were also able to support us on the night with refreshments: · Allpress Coffee · Coffee Supreme · Glengarrys (Garnet Road) Please use their services where you can. We have raised about $2,000. Thanks again everyone for all your support.
MATARIKI / MID WINTER DISCO Thank-you to everyone who contributed to this event – not only did we have a lot of fun but we raised$900. The next disco is planned for Friday 30 October, 6-8pm, so start planning your Halloween costumes. Art With Love 2008 Art With Love is not like any other art exhibition or auction. It started in 2005, and was followed by the 2nd affair, the 3rd fling and now this event in 2008, the 4th Romance. It is called Art With Love because artists donate their work knowing that all the proceeds go to the school. This is a significant contribution. For this reason I would thank all the artists who have contributed to this year's exhibition and auction. I would also like to single out and publicly thank artists who have contributed to at least 3 of the 4 Art With Love events. Thank-you for your passion and your generosity. They are: * Karl Maughan * John Reynolds * John Pule * Amy Melchior * Catherine Carter * Eleanor Whyle * Basia Smolnicki * Margaret Elliot * Clinton Phillips * Gabrielle Jones * Sam Miller-Walters * Tyla Vaeau * Olivier Duhamel * Kristelle Plimmer I would also like to specifically recognize the recent achievements of two artists who have children who attend Richmond Road School. John Reynolds and Edith Amatuanai were finalists in the recently awarded Walters Prize for contemporary art. Congratulations to you both on this significant achievement. As already mentioned John Reynolds has contributed significantly to Art With Love in the past, and Edith has donated two pieces to this, the 4th Romance. In addition to the artists, this event would not be possible without 2 other groups. Firstly I would like to thank our sponsors. Their support adds to the professional quality of this event. Please support them, and make them your first port of call when you can. Secondly our staff and parents who have helped make this event the success it is. I would particularly like to acknowledge Sue Winslow who was one of the founding organizers of this event, and whose experience we have drawn on extensively, and the 2008 organising committee consisting of the following parents – Stephen Fisher, Kim O’Loughlin, Robyn Walton, Julie Plourde, and our coordinator Angie TuiSamoa. The proceeds of this event are used to employ our wonderful teacher aides. We currently employ 6 teacher aides who support teachers by working with groups or individual children in our language programmes, or who provide remedial support for children in literacy and numeracy. We are also looking at ways in which we can further develop the art programmes for our children. We are certainly not short of talent in our community to tap into. Quiz Night and Auction 2008 This stunning event raised $16,500. Congratulations and thank-you to all those involved! A special thank-you to all our sponsors who generously supported this event. We are hoping to develop a 'sponsors' page on this website in the future so that everyone will know who they are. A specific thank-you to: Our fundraising committee - Emma Lewis, Jennifer Austin and Stephen Fisher Our MC - Nick Brown Our Quiz Master - Ewen MacKenzie-Bowie FUNDRAISING UPDATE 2009 Hi, Kia Ora, Talofa Lava, Bonjour!
ART WITH LOVE Art With Love generated $54,700 in income. However there are many expenses associated with this event, and with the recession, we introduced a commission for artists who chose to take this option, to enable them to contribute. Some of these expenses are still to be reconciled, but we estimate that this event raised about $36,000. Thank-you again to everyone involved.
SCHOOL PRODUCTION & 125TH JUBILEE These combined events generated $16,400 in income. As with Art With Love, there are many expenses associated with the event (buses, venue hire, crew hire, food). We estimate that these events raised $7,700. Thank-you to everyone who supported these events. The draft 2010 fundraising calendar will be published soon for your input. |
