2025 Donations and Stationery

School donations 2025
In 2020 there were new guidelines bought in from the Ministry of Education about donations for schools and the inclusivity of activities for our tamariki during the school year.

Thank you for your support and your contributions for our donations. We would not be able to operate our school without this contribution from parents.

Richmond Road School has a recommended donation structure. While this is not a fee and therefore not compulsory, all families are encouraged to make a donation to the school as it is a critical source of funding.

A tax rebate can be claimed for school donations.

Important note:
The Ministry of Education operations grant does not cover all the actual costs of running the school, especially with our specialty pathways and language opportunities that make our kura unique. While Ministry funding enables us to cover the basics in core subject areas, these are some examples of where we rely on other sources of income to enrich opportunities for our children:
  • Support for high needs students and extending our students’ strengths
  • Integrated IT learning using modern technology
  • Rich learning support programmes, including enhanced literacy support
  • Specialist teaching
We understand that every family’s financial circumstances are different. If you are unable to pay the suggested amount we would appreciate any amount you can afford. Equally, your donation is not limited to the amount suggested and any additional donation you make is fantastic.

Your support is important in helping Te Kura o Ritimana continue to grow together to celebrate our unique identities. We can’t emphasise enough the important difference that your school donations make to what our school is able to offer. Thank you for your support!

IRD Donation Rebate

The IRD rules state that the following payments qualify for the Donation Rebate
  • Donation payments to state schools (including integrated schools), schools approved as charities for tax purposes, school boards of trustees or parent-teacher associations. These payments must be donations, not just a payment of school fees.
  • state-funded schools for payment of fees, as long as these go to the school’s general fund.
Payments that don’t qualify are
  • Payments for classes where there is a take-home component, such as woodwork
  • Where attendance or participation of the activity is voluntary
  • Transport to or from a school activity, such as a camp or food at the camp
  • Tertiary or tuition fees.
Parents should claim for any general purpose school payments they have made.  Parents will need a Rebate Claim Form (IR 526) which will either be sent to them or can be obtained from www.ird.govt.nz or by phoning 0800 257 773 (need IRD number).

Payment options

While we would prefer to receive the total donation in one lump sum, we recognise that this can be a financial burden and if you would like to make arrangements to pay in instalments, we offer the following options:
1. One-off payment*
Families
Years 1-6
One Child
$390
2nd Child
$340
3rd Child

The above amount includes $60 towards school/class trips throughout the year.

2. Term by term

3. Monthly (11 months)
4. Weekly (40 weeks)
Contact the office to ask about setting up an automatic payment.

Preferred payment Method
Our preferred method of payment is online with Kindo. You can login to Kindo on the school website by clicking on https://shop.tgcl.co.nz.
